How to Check if Your Proxy Is Leaking Your Real IP on iPhone
A proxy only helps if sites see its IP instead of yours. If your real IP slips through, that's called a leak, and sites can tie your activity back to you even with the proxy on.
Checking takes under a minute with two free sites, whoer.net and ipleak.net. This guide follows the video step by step on an iPhone, using one of our dedicated SentraCell proxies.

What a Leak Looks Like
Most leaks come from one of these:
- •The proxy isn't actually on. The app is set up but not connected, so you're browsing on your normal connection.
- •Some traffic goes around the proxy. For example, DNS lookups that still go through your home internet.
- •The proxy passes your real IP along. Some cheap proxies add your real IP to the request, so sites see both.
What You'll Need
- •A proxy set up on your iPhone. New to this? Follow our Shadowrocket guide or the free Potatso guide first.
- •Your proxy's current IP, so you know what the checks should show.
- •Safari and about a minute.
How to Check for a Leak
-
1Turn your proxy on. Open your proxy app and connect. We use Shadowrocket here, but the free Potatso app works the same way. You should see the VPN icon at the top of your screen.
-
2Note your proxy's current IP. SentraCell customers can see it in @sentracell_proxies_bot on Telegram. This is the IP the checks should show.
-
3Open whoer.net in Safari. The IP at the top should match your proxy's IP, not your home internet or your phone carrier's IP.
-
4Scroll down on whoer.net to the proxy check. If it says No, the site doesn't see your connection as a proxy.
-
5Open ipleak.net. Check that the IP at the top matches your proxy again.
-
6Look for "No forwarded IP detected" on ipleak.net. That means your real IP isn't being passed along behind the proxy's IP.
All clear? If both sites show your proxy's IP and ipleak.net finds no forwarded IP, your proxy isn't leaking your real IP.
On ipleak.net, also look at the DNS section. If it lists your home internet provider, some lookups are going around the proxy. In Shadowrocket, set Global Routing to Proxy so everything goes through it.
If Your Real IP Shows Up
Both sites show your real IP. The proxy isn't connected. Open your proxy app, connect again, and check for the VPN icon at the top of the screen. Turn off any other VPN app, since an iPhone only runs one at a time.
The IP is right, but ipleak.net shows a forwarded IP. Your proxy provider is passing your real IP along. That's a setting on their side, not yours, so contact them or switch providers.
The IP changed after a check. If you rotated your IP, that's expected. Check the new IP in the bot and compare again.
IP Leak FAQ
Are whoer.net and ipleak.net free?
Yes. Both are free websites and you don't need an account.
How often should I check?
After you first set up a proxy, after updating your proxy app, and any time you switch to a different proxy.
Does a SentraCell proxy leak my IP?
No. In the video both sites show only the proxy's IP, with no forwarded IP. Run the same checks on your own phone to see it for yourself.
