How to Set Up a SOCKS5 Proxy on iPhone with Potatso

iPhone has no built-in SOCKS5 setting. The proxy option in Wi-Fi settings only takes HTTP proxies, and it only covers that one Wi-Fi network. Potatso fixes both. It's a free app that runs your SOCKS5 proxy as a VPN-style connection, so your phone goes online through the proxy on Wi-Fi and on cellular.

This guide follows the video step by step, using one of our dedicated SentraCell proxies: a real phone on a US carrier SIM, assigned only to you. The whole setup takes about three minutes.

Step-by-Step Setup in Potatso

  Install Potatso from the App Store. It's free.

  Open Potatso and tap Choose a server.

  Tap the + icon, then tap Manual input.

  Set Type to SOCKS5.

  Get your login. In Telegram, open @sentracell_proxies_bot, pull up your proxy's SOCKS5 login, and tap View split format. Each detail shows on its own line, so you can copy them one at a time.

  Paste the Server and Port into Potatso.

  Set the auth method: tap None and change it to Password, then paste your username and password.

  Tap the check mark to save. Your proxy now shows in the list.

  Go back and tap Connect. The first time, your iPhone asks to let Potatso add a VPN configuration. Tap Allow and enter your passcode.

  Check your IP. Open Safari and go to whatismyip.com. It should show your proxy's location, not yours. In the video it shows Sacramento, California while the phone is in Texas.

How to Rotate Your IP

With a SentraCell proxy you can get a fresh IP whenever you want. Open your rotation link in Safari, or tap Rotate in @sentracell_proxies_bot. The IP changes in about 5 to 10 seconds. Your server and port stay the same, so there's nothing to change in Potatso. Reload whatismyip.com to see the new address.

Troubleshooting

Connected, but pages won't load. Check the server and port for typos or extra spaces, and make sure the auth method is set to Password with the right username and password.

The IP check still shows your real location. Make sure Potatso shows it's connected and the VPN icon is at the top of your screen, then reload the page. Turn off any other VPN app too.

It stopped working after a while. Open Potatso and tap Connect again. If your proxy expired, renew it first.

Does it work on cellular data?

Yes. Potatso works on both Wi-Fi and cellular, so the proxy stays on when you leave Wi-Fi.

Do I need to change anything in Potatso when I rotate my IP?

No. Rotating changes the IP behind your proxy, but the server, port and login stay the same, so Potatso keeps working.
