How to Set Up a Proxy on Windows 11
Windows 11 can send your traffic through a proxy without installing anything. The setting is built into the Settings app, and it takes about two minutes.
One catch: the built-in setting is for HTTP proxies. If your provider gives you both HTTP and SOCKS5 details, use the HTTP ones here. This guide follows the video step by step, using one of our dedicated SentraCell proxies.

What You'll Need
- •A Windows 11 PC. Windows 10 has the same setting in almost the same place.
- •Your HTTP proxy details: server, port, username and password. SentraCell customers get these in the SentraCell bot on Telegram.
- •A browser like Chrome or Edge, to sign in and check your IP.
Step-by-Step Setup
-
1Get your HTTP proxy details. In the SentraCell bot, pick your proxy and tap View split format. It shows the server, port, username and password on separate lines, so you can copy each one on its own. Make sure you use the HTTP details, not SOCKS5.
-
2Open the proxy settings. Open Settings and search for proxy, or go to Network & internet and then Proxy.
-
3Click Set up next to Use a proxy server, under Manual proxy setup.
-
4Turn on Use a proxy server, then paste your server into Proxy IP address and your port into Port.
-
5Tick "Don't use the proxy server for local (intranet) addresses" and click Save.
-
6Open your browser and search what is my IP. A sign-in box pops up asking for the proxy's username and password. That's normal, since Windows has no place to save them in the proxy settings.
-
7Paste your username and password and click Sign in. The page loads through the proxy.
-
8Check your IP. The IP shown should match the one the SentraCell bot shows for your proxy, not your home internet. If it matches, you're done.
You're live. Your browser and any app that follows the Windows proxy setting now go through your proxy.
To go back to your normal connection, open the same Set up window and turn off Use a proxy server. Your server and port stay filled in, so turning it back on later takes one click.
How to Rotate Your IP
Open the SentraCell bot and tap Rotate IP. The phone reconnects to the carrier and comes back with a new IP in 5 to 10 seconds. You don't need to change anything in Windows, since the server and port stay the same. Refresh the what is my IP page to see the new one.
If It Doesn't Work
Pages won't load at all. Check that the server and port are exactly right, and that you used the HTTP details. SOCKS5 details won't work in this setting.
The sign-in box keeps coming back. Copy the username and password again from the bot. A space at the start or end is the usual cause.
Your real IP still shows. Make sure Use a proxy server is on and you clicked Save. Also turn off any VPN app, since it can override the Windows proxy.
Windows Proxy FAQ
Can I use SOCKS5 with the Windows proxy setting?
The built-in setting is made for HTTP proxies. For SOCKS5 on Windows you need a separate app, and we'll cover that in an upcoming guide. If you only need the proxy in a browser profile, an antidetect browser like AdsPower takes SOCKS5 directly.
Does this cover every app on my PC?
It covers your browsers and most apps that follow the Windows proxy setting. Some apps, like certain games and tools, ignore it and connect directly.
Why do I have to sign in every time I open my browser?
Windows doesn't save proxy passwords in this setting, so your browser asks for them. Some browsers remember the login until you close them.
